An overview. There are three clubs in NH that have silhouette matches during the non winter months. Their websites are listed at the bottom. They are from South to North, Purgatory = Mont Vernon, Pioneer = Dunbarton, Pemi = Holderness. Matches are open to the public. Standard ear, eye and empty chamber indicators will make any regular happy to see you and fill in the holes from there. Heck, if you don't own a gun, you can still show up and likely you will have a loaner put in your hands. Email or do something. There is no reason to sit on the porch! Life is too short.
With the exception of the 200y Cowboy Lever Action, silhouette can be shot with either a pistol or rifle. Both disciplines share the same animals and distance and at these three clubs, all possible animals and distances are offered for both rimfire and pistol cartridges. Not sure, just ask.
These are rain or shine events. A shooter can stop by anytime during the day but before noon would be advised if you want to shoot. Regulars will show up at 8 am to start getting things set up. The more you want to learn, the earlier you should show up. If you have been away from Silhouette for a while, it is still just as much fun as it used to be.
Cost. It varies but usually around $8 for a 40 shot round. $7 for a second round. A ball park figure. Jr's often shoot for free.
