Mosin Nagant m44 stock refinished

I refinished my m44 stock finally got it back together after alot of sanding and spraying heres a couple pics

Thanks guys first i sanded the stock down with 80-220 grit, then i stained it with minwax Red mahogany stain then applyed a wash coat with minwax poly cut with a little thinner let it dry sanded lightly with 600 grit then 3 coats of spray poly clear satin sanded and tacked between coats and walla.

the m44's always look a little rough IME, but this makes it look gorgeous. Nice! I need a M44!

Looks good, but I have to admit, that M44 just doesn't look "right" to me. Too clean.

I see some Budweiser, WD40 and MINWAX spray urethane. That will do it

I was inspired by, and refinished my Mosin almost exaclty this way.. http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/edu60.htm. I stripped the stock with oven cleaner. For stain, I used a mix of RIT dye (red and brown) and rubbing alcohol to get the color I wanted.

The finish I used was Tru-oil, 10 or 12 coats IIRC.

My Mosin looks about as good as the one in the illustration with maybe a bit darker and
more glossy stock.
