Hey everyone,
New to the shotgun world and just picked up my first...Mossberg 500 Combo. Came with scope, 24" & 28" barrel. Question is, other than cleaning it, is there anything else I have to do to this thing (adjustments, etc.) before I take it out to the range and let loose on some targets?? Thanks!

Shotgun mag tubes typically have a wooden dowel limiting capacity to 2+1 for migratory bird hunting. Easy to take out and reinstall for when you use on migratory birds.

Ahhhh...just found it and removed it while stripping it all down and cleaning it before its 1st use. Thanks!

I've had this same gun for many years and have had a lot of fun with it. It is versatile and designed for practical use. Enjoy!

I've heard the same from many others which is what swayed my decision to this gun. Thanks, I will!

I picked up the same model in 20 guage for my son. suggest doing a quick "bore site" with it before wasting muney on slugs. remove the slug barrell and mount the scope on it.....then set the barrel by itself (not attached to the gun) in a bench rest.......look down the barrel at a target and center the barrel on the black circle of the target.......then without moving the barrel or rest look through the scop and adjust the cross hair on the center of the black circle. Once you do that you'll be in the general area of zero.........mount the barrel to the gun and start your zero process of firing 3 round groups and fine tune your zero. Have fun......the mossy 500 is a great all around shotgun!

I know it's a late reply, but thanks for the advice! I did use that method and it worked out very well. I forgot to check back on this post.
