Mossberg 500 HS410 - Why not Ma Comp?

Interestingly, Armor Arms just called me back a few minutes ago. They still insist that the Mossberg 500 HS410... as pictured with pistol-style foregrip... cannot be sold by them in this state except to law enforcement personnel. However, they said that the gun can be ordered in with a regular foregrip and sold to any properly licensed individual. They said that the buyer can then order the pistol-style foregrip separately and change it himself/herself after the purchase and still remain legal.

File Armor Arms under TSTL.

Too Stupid To Live. [rolleyes]

Anyway, not trying to restart any debate here. Just wanted to post Armor Arms' response to my inquiry since they were good enough to finally get back to me.

I'd like to know where they're getting this info from?

As far as any laws go, the only thing that's even vaguely close (and even then, it's still waaaaay off-base), is an FFL cannot sell a pistol gripped shotgun to someone under 21 (and that's under Federal law as interpreted by the ATF).

I'm still equally confused as to why they have C&R firearms listed as not being able to sell in MA. [thinking]

Mossberg has the rear .410 pistol grip on their website listed at $26.46 (I didn't see any listing for the forearm)..

The pistol grip forearm is probably even more expensive.

Why spend the additional money when you should be able to purchase the firearm as originally equipped?

Never mind that it's bad enough that we have to deal with this kind of crap from out of state vendors without MA dealers adding to the frustration. [frown]

I pushed for the source law or ruling or whatever, but didn't get a straight answer. At one point, he seemed to be blaming it on the distributor not being willing to ship it for non-LEO use with the pistol-style foregrip... but unless he is using a different distributor than Richie, that makes no sense.

My thoughts exactly. I can't figure it out. On the one hand, it seems he would want my business and not refuse to sell it to me unless he thought there was a very good reason. On the other hand, he seems to think there is a very good reason.

I'm sure that these various dealers who believe this gun to be illegal in MA are just doing what they believe is right. I'm sure they are decent, honest folks just trying to make a living and they were very pleasant and helpful with me. I have nothing against them and feel bad about seeing them dissed here just 'cause they may have gotten it wrong. I sincerely appreciate you folks here setting me straight and pointing out the most knowledgable dealers, but please don't be too awfully hard on the others. Thanks!

The only thing we have against them is that they don't care enough to get a correct legal opinion on the matter... and we won't be patronizing them as a result. Sorry if it's harsh, but hey... it's a harsh world.

ArmorArms is actually in the dealer section here on NES.

FWIW, they list the Sig P226R in .40SW as being available to LEO...

Seems he'd rather not sell guns to people in MA...

Just a suggestion.

Since ArmorArms is a dealer member here, perhaps Derek (or one of the mods), should PM them and get their side of the story.

Quite frankly... I'm curious to read their response to this issue.

I'd do it myself, but it's not my place and I have no real dog in this fight.
