Moving to MA (from CT) - what to bring, modify, sell?

Hey y'all,

I'm moving to MA and I am having trouble figuring out how to ensure I will be in compliance with the laws. Any advice on what I should do with this stuff, which is still in CT?
  • A Rockola M1 Carbine that has been in my family for a long time that I *really* don't want to part with. Unmodified with bayonet lug. I've had an equal amount of people tell me it's fine and it's non-compliant.
  • A fixed-stock AR-15, grandfathered/registered in CT - can I convert to fixed mag using something ike patriotpin maglock or do I have to sell?
  • Some >10 round mags for the above rifles, grandfathered/registered in CT - can/should I pin the mags at 10 rounds? Any recommended method?
  • A tube magazine-fed semi-auto .22 rifle
I'm pretty sure the rest of my stuff is compliant - handguns with <=10 round capacity, lever-action and bolt-action rifles.

Thanks in advance for any insight you feel like sharing,
Corky

Bring it all, and don't tell the state about it. They don't need to know.

Your M1 and your .22 are GTG. Your AR is fine as long as the state doesn't know about it. Your mags are a problem; if you're interested in being compliant, you're SOL if they're more than ten rounds. If you're still interested in being a free American, bring them with you and don't get caught with them. Be prudent, and trust the state to f*** up the application of their own unconstitutional law. Better times are comin'.

Really. Truly. Bring it all, and don't tell the state about it. They don't need to know.

So it all looks good to me but not up on all the new laws. If in ct aren't the ar and mags pre 94 if grandfathered in ct

...as you're finding out, OP, a straight answer is unlikely to exist. Certainly not here.

This law is new, untested, and so far unprosecuted. It went through several versions before it was passed, after which it was challenged by petition and promptly implemented before many of its provisions could be enforced. They remain, as of now, unenforceable. In addition, no money was appropriated for implementation of any of those as-yet nonexistent provisions. Meaning? They'll probably never be implemented at all.

In other words? It's a MASSIVE clusterf*** and literally nobody understands what it means. So. Follow your conscience.

Once the registration requirement is in effect, “not telling the state about it” becomes a crime on its own. Unregistered AR becomes a bigger problem than post ban mags if you’re caught.

"When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty."
-attributed to Jefferson, but he didn't say it. It's still a great sentiment.
