my arsenal ak...wtf??

last year, some might remember i posted how i was having trouble with the sights on my arsenal sam7. i had to have the front sight post moved until it touched the ears on the left side of the post and it still wouldn't print on center. i figured the front sight was canted. then i saw a ak operators union vid on utube and he said some were showing up with canted rear sights. damn, huh? a $1200 ak. i could have bought a wasr for 400 bucks.

i in the meantime centered the front sight post and put the rifle away. i was anticipating a trip back to the factory where they assemble them.

i took the ak out today cause i was trying a new red dot sight. when finished sighting in, took it off and threw some lead downrange using the iron sights. christ, at 25 yards dead on center. back to 50 yards, center also. at 75 yards, still pretty much on although group was moved bout 1/2" - 1" left. i'm asking myself what the hell happened in between last year and now, this is nuts. just musing aloud is all but needless to say, stuff happens, and i'll take it.

Have you cleaned it in between shooting or changed the ammo you were using?

Haha. Its all you. I put a Bore Sight laser in all my AK's and AR's to get them close. Do it in the Yard at Night at about 50 feet to get you semi on. Works for me ...An AK jumps a lot more than an AR so bench shoot it with a Bag. Also tons of AK's have Cant and its no biggie. Best way to quickly tell it secure the AK to a flat surface and use one of those Laser line levelers on the AK.

The sights on mine were way off too. I had the move the front sight all the way to the right to hit dead center. Minor issue as it shoots VERY well.

i made a couple of phone calls to arsenal customer service. the woman who answers the phone must read the answers off a card, she kept telling me it was mil spec. i said thats why i paid the money for an arsenal, to get better than mil spec. silence on the other end. then she came back with "we don't ship them into massachusetts anyway." don't know why she tossed that card down but i got no where with her.

call back and tell her you can legally buy a long gun from a dealer in an adjacent state like NH and they need to honor their warranty.

Yeah that's complete crap. My new SAM7 is arriving at Northeast Arms tomorrow. Bought it from a vendor in Texas.

When I had a Sam7 I never had to touch the front sight. It was dead nuts on from the factory, at least at 100 yards. Then again mine was circa 2004 or
so... some lucky NES member I can't remember owns the thing now.

If all things are perfect yes....but it's adjustable for a reason.
I look at the so called m specs of the AR and M855 ammo and wonder why more don't complain about those rifles!
I'm curious maybe Boris can answer this.
What was/is the military standard in Russia for the ak 47 ? I'm thinking doesn't jam and hits lots of things down range

Greencobra maybe you had a burr on your crown that took a few rounds to smooth out. Or maybe you where thinking Russian!

I often wonder what the rifleman qualification is for Russian military.
I don't even know what it is today.
I used to have the specs for the SKS it read something like x amount of hits on torso , head or such at xyz meters.
Old timer at club claimed to work at yugo arsenal making sks and said the accuracy standard was 7 put of 10 shots on a 16" target 100 meters?
