Here is my old 3 position smallbore match rifle that I am playing with as a benchrest rifle. This one is one of the earlier 14XX made. Stampings put its year of manufacture at 1964. It is one of the earliest 1413's noted by a single wing extractor, while everything after this year of manufacture had double extractors, i believe. It was one of the first to use the 54 action. its in pretty much pristine condition...a few tiny dents (one of which you can see in the pic) but the bore and blueing are mint. Its been in a closet cased for the last 10 years since i got out of smallbore...

Despite its being almost 45 years old, this baby still shoots single-hole groups at 50 yards all day long...

Also pictured is my modded Ruger MKIII Space Gun

I edited my original post. As i was stripping it down for a scope mount, its actually a 1964, not 63. I also found the original trigger. I swapped in a new two stage match trigger years ago...talk about hair trigger! I bet its no more than 2 grams.

Once i took the barrel mounts and sights all off, its looking sleek! Im going to see if it has any collectors value, and if not, refinish and modify the stock.

Nice! I have the same rifle, 1968 version. Mine is missing the hook buttplate. There might be a 2-digit number on the left side of the barrel up near the receiver that will tell you the date of manufacture.

Yup thats where i got the date off mine. I have the hook buttplate, the prone buttplate, and made my own palm rest when i did 3 position. I was looking at the stock last night and if the gun isnt valuable as a collectors item as-is, im certainly going to at very least refinish it, sand and modify the stock, and put a nice tung oil finish on it like i do knife handles.

I need to make some set screws to fill the barrel mount threads that will be left after taking off the barrel mounts. Once i get this baby built up, ill update the thread with pics.

Very sharp looking rifle! Good shooting to you. [grin]

A local gunshop/gunsmith is likely to have filler screws.

As to value, that number is really all over the place. I paid $450 for mine and really thought I stole it. I would figure anywhere from $400 to $800, especially since you have two trigger sets. I think the books undervalue them. Target rifles are worth a lot to target shooters, but to the casual plinker, they are just heavy .22's.
Now, here comes the screwy part: that rig is probably worth more as parts than it is as a complete rifle. Do an Ebay search for Anschutz and see what you come up with. Sights, buttplates, hooks, stocks, triggers, all go for pretty good money.
I know you were just looking for a value to see if you would hurt it by refinishing the stock, but I have to say it: Don't sell that rifle! But if you do, sell me the hook buttplate first!
