Hello all, just registered here and wanted to say hello and ask a question about Nashua Fish & Game club. I'm looking at joining a club probably this spring or summer and Nashua is close to me. I'm interested in the ranges there and was wondering what the indoor range is like?

I see all the outdoor ranges obviously close at sunset but is the indoor range 24/7 with a key code or something?

Right now I shoot at MFLR which is a great indoor range but I was wondering also about how the targets work at Nashua or any club for that matter? MFLR the targets are on a pulley system that comes to you, how does Nashua work? It looks like you go cold range and everyone goes down and changes there targets? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just have no clue about it.

The indoor range at Nashua is a throwback to bullseye shooting. Nashua's target system does not use pulleys. Targets are hung on pins in the turning target mechanism. Firing is from behind the movable benches form 50 or 75 feet only. There is a 33 foot line intended for air rifles/pistols only.

Thanks for the reply. I'm fairly new to shooting so I don't really know what bullseye shooting is other than I shoot at bullseyes at MFLR. I understand from looking on the net it's a sport. What is a "turning target mechanism?" I take it you would move a bench to the length you'd want to shoot at?

How could I (if I could) go to the indoor range and shoot in the winter like I could at MFLR? Also is it 24/7 with a member access key or pin?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to wrap my head around it and relate it to what I do now. I'm interested in outdoor shooting for rifle/pistol/shotgun but I want to shoot 12 months a year so I'm wanting to join a club that has an indoor range as well.

Thanks for the info!

I don't know of any private club in NH that has an indoor range that is anywhere near the caliber of what you are going to get at MFL. Most of the ones I've looked at all have byzantine rules on their ranges or lots of caliber or distance limitations (eg, they force shooting at 25+ feet) etc.

Agreed, MFL is a first class facility. I'll probably consider the indoor ranges to be a bonus then at the clubs. I live minutes way from Nashua F&G and Horseshoe Pond. Here's a question for members of Nashua F&G, how's the ranges in winter? I know I won't get my wife out in the bitter cold to shoot but how are the ranges as far as access in winter?

Yes they do close the ranges when the berms freeze( depending on when the governor for that range decides it is unsafe) then they reopen them when it is deemed safe again. The roads are plowed and maintained and benches cleared of snow. As long as you don't mind the cold and when you join you give them your email address they will email the closings and reopenings for the ranges. They have only closed the ranges once so far this winter and then reoponed them. As of right now they are open. They also have the only 600yrd range in the state of nh. Butdo keep in mind this is a member maintained club and we all volunteer time to do work and update the range so its not as "high tech" as the new m.f.l. but a helluva lot cheaper the shoot more frequently. Any other questions you can go to nfga.org and send them an email and mike the membership guy will handle any question.

As a side note the ranges that are shorter than 25yrds at nashua fish and game are .22. Rifle or pistol rounds only but after 25yrds any caliber except .50bmg

Thanks for the replies Goomba. It definitely is cheaper. That's good to know about the ranges opening and reopening. I have a membership at MFL now and will look at Nashua this year and I can always go to MFL in the winter to shoot without a membership.
