I am looking for a lefthanded bolt action rifle to use in a treestand in the nasty weather during deer season. Would like a 20" barrel and possibly a .270 round in stainless and probably a composite stock, although I am not big on the composite stocks, it would probably be the best bet.
Thanks, Bill

Yeah the 16/116 Weather Warrior is one that I have been looking at. I was just wondering what else was out there. Also thinking of a getting a barrel for my T/C Encore, the barrel is longer but there isn't much for a receiver.A 24" barrel encore is 3.5" shorter than a 7mm-08 in the weather warrior.

If you use something like Eezox, that is an excellent rust preventative and as long as you clean it after you come back it will work just fine. I like to use a silicon spray/wipe down.

The reason I say this is I am not a fan of the composite plastic stocks, and prefer a good wood stock, or laminated wood. They just feel better in my hands, then a light weight flimsy composite stock.

I have never used Eezox, but will look for it. It is that we would be at camp in Me. and not a lot of room with 4 soaked hunters and gear, but we still clean our rifles, but something more weather resistant would be nice, seeing I am looking for a new back-up for my Browning .270wsm micro hunter anyways. I also am not a big fan of synthetics either but they are more weather resistant.

Anyone have any recommendations for a good scope? I was thinking of the Leupold VXR but at $500 they ain't cheap, but I like the red dot with the 3-9 magnification.

Also looking at bushnell's elite 3x9x40/50 firefly.
