I was watching the episode of the American Rifleman TV tonight and they were discussing the history of the National Matches. I never knew they were held in Sea Girt, NJ in what is now the NJ State Police Academy and a National Guard base. They were held for years until moved to Camp Perry around 1918. The year before they moved they were held in Caldwell, NJ which was only a few miles from my house.

That would have been very convenient although today Sea Girt could not handle the crowds.

Great photos. This really stunned me. Especially the Caldwell, NJ matches. Right next door to Tony Soprano.

Part of the range is still up and used for police training. Great Irish bar right outside the gate. Alex Webster formerly with the NY Giants way back had owned it.

Sea Girt NJ. It must have been a bitch shooting toward the East in the morning at Sea Girt. Sun would be right in your eyes.
