The shooting happened just before 9pm at the Walgreen's at 61st and NW Radial Highway.

Investigators say that two masked suspects entered the Walgreen’s, one armed with a shotgun. The armed suspect had leveled the gun at customers.

One of the customers at the register saw the suspect point the shotgun in the direction of the register where there were several others standing.

That customer has been identified as Harry McCullough, III of Omaha.

Investigators say he drew a handgun from the waistband of his pants and discharged it at Thomas, who was hit multiple times.

Thomas was able to flee from the store but collapsed on the north side of the business. He was transported to the Creighton University Medical Center where he died.

McCullough has a valid permit to carry a gun, however, he was cited for carrying a concealed weapon.

Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine says McCullough was justified in the shooting based on the actions of the suspects and will not face charges in Thomas' death.

The comment thread is interesting. Seems McCullough had a pistol permit but not a CCW. He was cited for CCW (a misdemeanor) but will face no charges for the actual shooting.
