I used to live in Massachusetts and had an LTC-A, but recently moved to Virginia. However, Four Seasons Guns in Woburn has a used gun that I've been looking for for a while...it's an S&W SW40P, which is a Sigma with a polished slide and ported barrel. They want around $220 for the gun but I'm slightly wary about buying a used gun sight unseen...so if anyone happens to be going there anyway in the next few days and can take a look at it for me I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Simple. Call Carl. Ask for description. When it arrives, it will be just as described. Period.

That's quite an endorsement. I've heard a lot of good things about them and always intended to go up there when I lived in the Boston area but never got a chance to.

I saw Carl describing a SW 1911 over the phone this morning to a customer. I watched him take it out of the case, read the serial and check the action with the phone cradled in his shoulder. If he say's it's good to go, it's good to go.

Another endorsement!

Best customer service around. He'll only steer you straight, no monkey business.

I was in there today and saw it in the case. I did not take a detailed look though. The polished slide caught my eye.

That's what I really liked as well when I saw one several years ago. The two tone black and polished slide is very unique looking.

I live in Florida and if Carl had a gun I wanted, and told me the gun was in excellent condition I would take him at his word. I have dealt with Carl and others at Four Seasons and if any of them said it was in excellent condition I would trust them. I would also trust Carl to take the gun back if you told him it wasn't in the condition described.

I've bought probably 10 or more used revolvers from Carl over the last year or so. I'll often call before I drive over and have him describe the condition to me over the phone. I've never, repeat NEVER, found a gun to be anything other than exactly as he described it, or better.

OP: just curious, are these NOT available in your state?

-seems like a lot of hoops for SIGMA, ported barrel or NOT.

They're available in Virginia, it's just that ported models are extremely rare. In the end though it won't be worth it, I spoke to the dealer and was told that the gun would have to be shipped overnight at a cost of $50, which makes it cost as much as a new one. I'll stick with a used P99 or new M&P40 I think.

Yes, the only way to ship a handgun is via UPS or Fedex and both require them to be shipped overnight.

Also, I agree with the opinions of Carl. Great guy and he runs an excellent operation.

not a problem

I bought a used Sig from Carl. I called and asked his ooinion and for
a description.

Put it on hold, drove to Woburn and bought it. I was as described
by Carl.
