Anyone here know where I can get a skeleton stock for my converted Saiga 12? I know I've seen at least one member here who competes with them.
I know there is the ATI one; but, IMHO it looks terrible (however, if those with an S-12 vouch for it's performance...). God willing my LTC-A comes in before Christmas and even though it's gonna break my heart to take off that pistol grip, I will do what I must to be reunited with my firearms.

Your opinions and advice are always appreciated, so thank you in advance.

please do, I'm always a little hesitant about buying parts for my weapon "sight unseen" so even a first hand account will put my mind at ease.

ATI is the best way to go. No mod bolt on and actually really comfortable.

Wood Norico thumbhole might work as well.

SLR-95 is an option but has to be really modified in order to make it fit.

There is a cheap one offered around on gun broker but stay away from it. Cheap resin made and breaks.

Is that true with the ATI stock? Mississippi Auto Arms, where i got it, said it would need modification to fit on the converted s-12?

If its true this build just got a lot easier, not that its hard, just laboring.

I'll put up those pics when I'm done for you. Once i get everything I could do an early pic with just the stocks overlapping to give you a feel for the look.

Definitely, that and any details on how extensive any filing to it was. This gun makes me feel like a gunsmith with all the "customizing" it takes to fit even "bolt on" mods; not that they're hard.

Thanks for the heads up on the gun broker stock.

I'm running a Choate stock available from midway.

You'll need to dremmel out some material out of the channel, quick mod.

Thanks, I like the look of that better... I think it's the cheek rest on the ATI design that throws me off. I still hate that it has come to this...
by the way... O' the HK sights! How I want them... Just don't have the money and there isn't even a chance I trust myself to weld them on.

Very nice S-12.

The ATI fiberforce seemed chinsy however the cheek weld is removable. I looked around for a while for the Least Ghey thumbhole stock and settled with the Choate.
For a modern styled sporterized stock go with the modified Choate.

ETA: Here is pic of the inexpensive gunbroker thumbholestock to avoid. I refinished it, but it failed to hold up to moderate 12ga recoil.

You know, I saw this around the saiga forum threads; but, when I asked there I was mainly just chastised for living in suckachusetts or pointed to ATI. I do like the Choate's lines more. Still sucks that I have to take it this route but this makes me feel a little better. Right now my S-12 is sitting stored in pieces, it's just going to be nice to get it back to chewing through shells. Thanks for the info glostamon.

No problem, having questions answered with the "Move to a free state" response suck. [wink]
You can still make a relatively cool MA. compliant Saiga 12 ...even without a traditional AK pistol grip configuration.
