I am looking for a mid-size carry gun for OWB for winter carry. No 1911 and would like 45 ACP. I would appreciate MA resident suggestions.

There are lots of .45's out there, for carry starting smaller

Glock 36, xd/xdm compact .45, m&p 45, glock 30sf, sigs,

Im personally waiting till the new XD-S single stack .45 comes out in late march/april as much as i love my glock 9's i dont like the huge .45 grip of most of the guns.

If I were going OWB/Winter carry, I would carry something a little bigger. I would save the G36 for the summer. But if you wanna try out a G36, let me know if your local to the north shore.

My first thought immediately was a Sig p220. Second place would be the M&P. I'm not a fan of glocks for my own reasons, but it's worth adding to the list (basically mirroring what others have already mentioned). I'd say you won't go wrong with either of those 3

Here is the definitive assesment:

I ADVISE AND YOU LISTEN. LAST TIME ARMY CARRY BAD PISTOL INTO COMBAT WAS NAMBU OF JAPANESE EMPIRE. SINCE THAT TIME MILLIONS OF MEN CARRY PISTOL OF 9 MILLIMETERS. IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR THEM WITH STUPID GENEVA TREATY BALL BULLET. IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU WITH TEN ROUBLES PER CARTRIDGE HOLLOW NOSE BULLET AND FANCY BRASS OF NICKEL PLATING. YOU PRACTICE WITH MANY MAGAZINE, YOU CARRY MANY CARTRIDGE. WHEN MAN WAVES GUN AT YOU, FILL HIM WITH BULLETS FAST AND STRAIGHT. MORE HOLES IS BETTER THAN BIG HOLES. CARRY PISTOL WITH LARGE MAGAZINE AND MANY CARTRIDGE.

IN THIS WAY YOU DEFEAT CRIMINAL.

OWB. 45 or 10 mm. Glock, Sig or Ruger. M&P will need a new trigger so get a good deal on a used one

I like my gen 4 g21 with prebans

I"m not the Mad Russian.....but, syntax and idiom notwithstanding, much of what he says, makes sense.

If you didn;t follow the link, you should - there's some good stuff there!

My apologies! I thought your post was truly good! I was just laughing and being a smart ass. I am also a 9mm guy. That's what happens when I stay up at night posting instead of sleeping. I actually thought you were busting HIS chops and I sort of chimed in.

Glock-36 or the newer ahr 45's are about as slim as one can find in a 45. In a fuller size the S&W M&P45's would be a good choice.

Ivan does have an interesting writing style:

I THINK LIVE GRENADE FOR CIVILIAN IN AMERICA IS PROBABLY ENOUGH REASON FOR GULAG, SO IS PROBABLY NO REAL USE FOR GRENADE SPIGOT TO YOU.

Now what exactly is a grenade spigot on an SKS?

Plus, he seems to cover it all - including carrying on a date:

IN RUSSIA WE ALSO HAVE RULES OF COURTING. DO NOT BRING SIDEARM TO FIRST TIME WITH GIRL. SENDS WRONG MESSAGE, THAT YOU ARE BAD CONSCRIPT WHO WILL RAPE GIRL. ON FIRST TIME HAVE DISCUSSION OF GLORY OF PARTY AND DEFENSE OF MOTHERLAND. ON SECOND TIME MANY DRINKS OF VODKA TO MAKE GIRL WANT ****; MATCHING ENOUGH DRINKS MAKES DANGEROUS TO CARRY SIDEARM. ON THIRD TIME IS DEFINITE ****. AFTER THIS YOU MAY BRING SIDEARM ALL AS LIKED.

I have heard good things on the Ruger P345 also.
i will suggest a ruger p345. ive owned mine for 2 1/2 yrs now and carry it almost daily. it is a good gun with over 4k through it (mostly reloads) with no problems. never touched the sights ever. great gun for the money.
