I have a SIG SCM (MA-compliant SIG 556 HOLO) and would like someone to show me how to properly prep/clean it prior to shooting it for the first time.

Should I follow the above guidelines or just take it out and shoot it? Are there other/different recommendations that I should consider? Would be willing to pay for an hour of your time for the prep/cleaning instruction. Thanks in advance.

Loyalist,

You should immediately turn this firearm over to the care and protection of Blitz1. For a reasonable fee he will take your fine rifle into his widely acclaimed "556 to the max" preparation regimen.

He guarantees to return your rifle within six to nine months, and will make sure it has been properly broken in.

p.s. I have a 556 and, as Jay_Chris is known to say, shot it like I stole it. it is a great rifle!

The dealer I bought my AR from told me two things:

1. before shooting for the first time, field-strip and give it a careful cleaning to make sure that all metal shavings and grit are removed, especially in the machined parts of the BCG and the breech.

2. shoot one round then clean the barrel for the first ten rounds. This is supposed to "polish" the barrel evenly for maximum accuracy over its life. (sounded like BS at the time).

Yes, yes you should. Absolutely the best advice I've heard on this forum.

Sig is pretty well backlogged now as most companies are. I would call some of the esteemed dealers posted in the dealer section here and find out who has some on order. There may be some way to get on a waiting list.

Step 1: Lube rifle

Step 2: Load magazines

Step 3: Go to range

Step 4: Pay your range fees for God's sake

Step 5: Set up at your bench

Step 6: Insert magazine

Step 7: Acquire target

Step 8: Pull trigger

Step 9: Develop shit eating grin

Step 10: Repeat Step 7-9 in rapid order at least 150 times

The rifle will then be properly broken in...You're welcome...[cheers]
