Need Ideas on cleaning older ammo

The cases were too cruddy to shoot. They weren't badly corroded, but there was enough crust so that I wouldn't have wanted to put the stuff in my M1.
Wow... that is cruddy. OK, thanks. I was wondering - from the original description it didn't sound like there was actually "stuff" on the cases, just didn't look pretty.

Knowing what I know about ammo, I'd say 24 hours in a truck is much less than 12 hours tumbling. I don't think those boxes of powder jugs are getting turned upside down 2 or more times per minute.

Don't count on it! I used to work for UPS. I KNOW how packages are treated![wink]

Nice to see some quality info on this subject. I've shot my share of corroded ammo in the past. I've seen some old .30 carbine brass split that just had some minor 1/4" stains. I shot some OD green military 12 gauge no.4 buck that had a few small spots, the metal bases split regularly. I never had any problems, but it's just not worth it to me anymore.
