I have a new Walther P99 40cal I just bought, just curious who else has one, what everyones thoughts, experiences, etc are on these? Is it your carrry gun, range gun? Both?..likes, dislikes....anything pertaining to. Them, throw it out there...any good info I need to know?...thanks

I want to get me a PPS in .40, they have not yet hit the "Approved" list. I heard this may happen "soon", whatever that means. I handled one in NH, it is compact, only one inch wide, very light. awesome carry gun.

IS the P99 a full size or sub compact?

I have the compact "anti-stress" version (P99c AS.) Great carry gun IMHO.

I like that it's striker-fired but still has second shot capability. It's also compact and light but still packs a punch. The ability to use mags from the full size version (with the grip extension) is nice.

Dislikes:
The non-standard mag release. (It's hard to transition to / from it from other more "standard" mag releases on guns like my Sig.) Also, it tends to give me a blister on my trigger finger if I shoot it a lot.

I own an early Walther P99 with the A.S trigger its my all around handgun.I like the "Factory"trigger action (no gunsmithing required),smooth & short pull(striker fired SA/DA w/decocker)
The gun is very well made, light weight, great finish, moderately priced, lifetime warrenty, the safety features are great, it has Ambi controls & mag.release, an accessory rail, and accurate adjustable sights.
The ergonomics were designed by Cesare Morini, designer of the competition rifles for the olympic team.
It seems "Taylor Made" to my hand, but has 3 different backstraps to accomadate all users.
Its one of the most comfortable handguns (in it's class).
I also like the styling.
IMO Walther has cutting edge quazi-futuristic styling (its one of thoose love/ hate things,I also think the PPS looks cool).
You bought a real good underrated gun.
Most people don't want to pay $300 more for a P99 over an M&P.
A Walther P99 is basically a "High End" M&P (but much better in every way.)

I agree. I just picked up a used P99 and I like everything about it. The trigger is nice, it's not picky on ammo and it fits my hand perfectly.

Well in my time in active duty army, I handled alot of firearms etc...lots of fun toys, now this P99AS is very new for me, with that being said, there isnt anything I dont like about this so far.

I like the mag release, I like the internal striker, I like the trigger pull, LOVE how comfortable the grip is. I like the looks of it, like the accesory rail (just in case I want an unneccesary laser sight or light..haha..might grab one just to have it!).
The price is expensive, but just as the man helping me said, "you get what you pay for, and you will love this gun, will last forever, and has great resale"...after holding three other handguns the day I bought mine, I held the P99AS and realized this was the one I was getting...

well if the Walther P99AS was good enough for Bond...then I guess it should work for me...haha

IMO the P99 is a good size handgun for concealed, I dont think its too big. I weighed it with an empty mag just to see for myself the weight, it was 1.5 lbs exactly...nice light weight gun...very very happy with my decision to purchase this gun

does anyone know if you can interchange barrels on the P99 between 9mm and .40cal?...the only other thing to change would be mags...are these guns interchangeable barrel wise? just curious if its been tried??

I don't think so. For one thing the extractor is different. You might be able to find a 3rd party one from bar-sto or the like but I don't think I'd trust my life on it.

However, a .357 sig barrel would be very interesting.
