Are there any ranges or even just unincorporated places I can go to shoot that don't require membership, special ammo, or lots of money? I'd really like to shoot my new toys, but the only viable place I've come across is Manchester Firing Line, and they require special frangible ammo that I have to purchase from them.

All the other places require memberships and while eventually that might be fine, I'd like to try a place out before I join, you know?

I should mention, too, that I have about 4 or 5 friends who want to go shooting with me, so even a membership for me isn't really helpful right now.

If you post which clubs you're interested in, there are probably people here who are members who'd be happy to show you around their club. Clubs vary on their policy for guests, some might be accommodating.

Anything that takes rifles, really. I suppose nothing too far, though. I'm in Nashua.

I kind of liked the looks of the Londonderry Fish & Game Club, I guess, for specifics.

I'm in MA, so I can't be of much help. I'd be happy to show you around Westford Sportsmen's though, if you were interested.

Nashua F&G, your backyard, Londonderry F&G, Manchester Firing Line. Those are the four I'd recommend.

I can't bring half of my guns down there. :(

$210 for Nashua. And MFL requires special ammo.

Londonderry is probably where I'll end up.

The is also Purgatory Falls Fish & Game in Mont Vernon. Maybe closer than Londonderry, depending on where you are in Nashua.
There is also Hudson Fish & Game, much closer than Londonderry.
And don't forget about Pelham Fish & Game. They are supposed to be opening a new 600 yd range soon.

Where you end up really depends on what you're looking for in a club.
If you're just looking for a place to burn ammo from time to time, I would recommend Hudson or Purgatory (both are pretty short money), Londonderry can get inaccessible in winter.
If you're looking for a place that sponsors organized activities and/or competition, look at Nashua for High Power Rifle, Harvard Sportsmen in Harvard MA for action shooting (both rifle & pistol), Purgatory for Silhouette, Pioneer in Dunbarton for action and silhouette and Pelham or Westford for Trap.

I'd like to take you up on the offer for a tour. My lady participated in the "Women on Target" event hosted there in September and really liked what she saw and has been bugging me about finding a place where she could try Trap.

I can't think of anywhere in Nashua with enough backyard for shooting.
Hell, I've got a perfect berm (8 feet high) in my backyard and I can't shoot into it (too close to roads and occupied dwellings).

I want to by the property where a friend of mine had his first house in Pepperell. 7-1/2 acres, 180 feet of road frontage and only three property lines, imagine a very big slice of pie. Side lot lines were about 2100 feet.

Your missing a great oppurtunity in not considering Pelham Fish & Game Club Pelham, NH.

384 Acres as well as ranges that cannot be beat.

Come check us out.

I've thought about Pelham and heard good things but $310.00 is VERY pricey for me to join a club. I'm a member at Exeter and it runs $75.00 a year, granted it's basically a dirt berm but $235.00 is REAL money to me.

I also shoot at Exeter with my pops, usually on weekends. Basically a dirt berm, yes, but what I like about it is you can have guests nearly as much as you want (you just have to sign them in), and it seems every time I go there is either no one else there, or only one other person. I'm told that Exeter's is the oldest (active?) gun club in America and that the town is trying to get rid of the club for good. [frown]

Check out Country Pond Fish & Game Club in Newton NH, just north of Haverhill MA.
Trap range, indoor & outdoor pistol ranges, 100 yd covered rifle range, indoor & outdoor archery ranges, pistol leagues, trap leagues, rifle leagues, Cowboy Action Shooting, 22 Plate Shoot matches. Outdoor ranges open 0900 to dusk, indoor is open 24/7. $175 first year, $125 per year after that.

How do the members view EBR's?

"Evil Black Rifle." AKA, AR-15 style weapons.

We don't usually "view" them... we'd rather shoot them.

Seriously, we don't discriminate, whether the rifle is black, lime green, or pink polka-dotted... unless you're the type that just has to empty a 30-round magazine as fast as humanly possible. That's irritating, as well as being very uncool.

I used to belong to Londonderry, It was dirt cheap but it didn't offer much and they were in a dispute with an other property owner over the deeded access. The guy would block the road and you couldn't get in. I think they finally ironed it out but I had moved on by then. I just joined Pelham and of the 3 clubs I have belonged to its the best. They offer a lot for the money. Check out the website to see all they have to offer.
