Bought this today at Riley's. Little Cricket .22. The thing is tiny! It's the one my 6 year old daughter said she liked the best when I took her up there a couple months ago.

Now I've just gotta avoid the temptation of giving it to her before Christmas or before her birthday in March!

Nice!!!! Great to see you are passing on responsible gun ownership to the next generation!!! My daughter won't go with me to the range, my wife has and we are working on getting her more comfortable. I bet if my daughter saw that cricket decked out in pink, the odds on her coming out and trying it would change!!

She keeps bugging me to go to the range, but she's not quite mature yet. High energy red head who's a little short on the attention span. She's getting close, though. She already knows the full set of safety rules. She knows how to clear a rifle and a pistol.. that includes all those milsurps in the pic (Enfield, Garand, etc.) Only problem w/ the semi-autos is she's not strong enough yet to open the bolts. But she knows where to look and what to do when/if she ever came across a firearm.

Both her and her younger (4 yr old) sister help me reload ammo. They beg to help! It makes for a great excuse to go and get more reloading supplies. I've got thousands of rounds stocked up because they never get bored helping reload. My wife asks me when I'm going to shoot it all up, and I say I'm trying to keep up! Their younger brother's not quite old enough to help yet, but he'll get there soon.

Hey thanks for the tip on the CCI Quiet .22, strangenh... I'll have to look for those. To be honest this is my first .22 as well so I don't have familiarity with all the .22 ammo options. I learned to shoot on my dad's 30-06, so I kind of skipped the whole "start on a .22 to get used to noise and recoil" stage lol.

Heh. The Quiet .22 is pretty cool. Decently accurate for short range plinking, better than CBs or Super Colibri, and relatively inexpensive. Riley's had a bunch of it at under $6/100 if I recall correctly. Works great from a little bolt action like that.

Maybe you should test it out on the range first? I'm sure you'll get some nice looks!
I wish I was introduced at an early age, but better now than later.

Cute little rifle, I'm sure she will like it.
I've wound up with a couple youth rifles for my kids (a Savage Rascal and a slightly larger Ruger 10/22 Youth).
I'm sure that I will get use out of them, my youngest child she was only four weeks old yesterday.

Congratulations on your purchase...that is a neat little rifle for your daughter. I'm sure she will love it and get many years of enjoyment from it.
