The guy that played branch on longmire (greatest crime drama ever made imo) gets my attention. He was great in that series.

Agree. A camp like that, out in the open, would be quickly overwhelmed.

I think I read that one, did the guy have a FNX45? There’s so many similar books.

A good post apocalypse book was "Lucifer's Hammer" by Niven and Pournelle, about a community in mountains near Los Angeles after giant asteroid impact.

He had a few guns in his collection......and the story teaches the pros and cons of each gun. I don't remember an fnx45. His favorite long gun was an fnfal.....in one chapter he grabbed a Marlin camp 45 out of his safe cuz he was wanted something light to take on a long walk to inspect the perimeter......got caught in a fire fight and it didn't have the range he needed and swore he'd always take the fnfal from then on. That's one example.

The protagonist in the story's nickname was "karate man" and his real name is Mark Turner. Had an old retired marine neighbor "gunny". Ring any bells? It's by David crawford and was actually released 1 chapter at a time on a blog.......over a couple years. Then someone compiled it into a novel.

The book tells the story but also teaches hundreds of prepping skills by telling the pros and cons of different things they tried. Amazing book.

Someone did try to make a movie based on "lights out" and actually had a couple of trailers made. Dude was over on AR-15.com as I recall, looking to find investors. got a bunch of people to put in money but never went anywhere AFAIK...

Great book. They had better OPSEC, and kept things tight. Also it was an economic collapse, not an attack.
But I do want to see this movie.
