New Smith 1911's on their site...

There might be hope for me and a 9MM 1911 after all [smile]

Alright, I have to confess I've been day dreaming about this gun all day in class today. Yes, it's $1600 (msrp) for an S&W - but still, an MA legal 9mm 1911 is just very interesting to me. Of course, if the thing isn't reliable (and from what I hear 9mm 1911 are known for being super ammo sensitive) I can't carry it and the dream of single stack 1911 9mm will die.....but hey a guy can hope right?

I know I should be saving my pennies for another AR-15 or a FS M1A before the Democrats turn their attention to pushing through another ban on guns that look like automatic weapons. But the search for the perfect carry weapon might have to be a priority, especially if Smith offers some promos when this thing hits the stores.

I wonder what brand of mags they will ship with?

I bought a Colt Combat Commander in 9MM (series 80) last year and I paid just over $1000. They are out there if you want to look and wait for your opportunity. I too NEEDED to have a 1911 in 9MM. What a great gun, easy to shoot, accurate and not too expensive to take to the range for the day.

How's it work?

I have put around 500 or 600 rounds through it without a problem. I have a few of Colt mags as well as some of the new Wilson mags. I have not tried much defensive ammo mostly WWB. The only issue, and its not really an issue, is the sites. They are horrible so it will be Trijicon night sites soon. Recoil is very manageable and it is easy to shoot as are most 1911's for me. This one is on the never sell list, I am very happy with it.
