Ok, fell into a pretty decent deal on a ruger 10/22....I would like to jazz it up. Any suggestions as to parts? Barrel, stock and whatnot?? I look forward to any and all ideas!!!

Thanks in advance...

buy a Volquartsen auto bolt release. This lets you release the bolt simply by pulling back on it and letting it fly forward. With just the stock bolt release, you'll have to use your left hand to push the bolt release latch up while holding back the bolt with your right hand. Probably one of the most functional additions to the 10/22 that I can think of.

Also, I think the stock sights suck, so I'm going to get a set of Tech-Sights soon.

For a new barrel, if you need one, I would look at Tactical Solutions, WhistlePig and Green Mountain. Shoot the rifle first, though. My stock barrel is a tackdriver.

I had a Bell & Carlson bench stock on my 10/22 for a while. For that use, it was great. I'm considering getting the Target/Varmint stock, since my 10/22 is now more of a hunting than bench rifle.

First thing, go join www.rimfirecentral.com its a great place for all things 10/22.
Next what are you going to use yours for: benchrest, steel shooting, LTR, or just general plinking.
Third, get a second job, because you are going to need it when the addiction really kicks in.

Aloha,
Doug

Check out the "Liberty Training Rifle" threads.. lots of good info there. After doing that to mine, it is one of my favorite guns to shoot.

+1 on the volquartsen stuff.. especially the extractor. I also really liked the buffer-tech buffer.. it got rid of the annoying "clack" of the bolt hitting the rear pin.

not that you have a 10/22

The skys the limit, if you can think it you can do it on a 10/22 build

Also have fun blowing your money...........and you will

post pics when done

you can do your own auto bolt release with a file...you'll find instructions online.

My tech sights just arrived tonight and just got 'em on. I got the 100's.
The rubber bolt stop is supposed to be helpful for feel as well as longevity.
You'll want to do something about the trigger. -Many cheap options out there.

They are a very simple rifle to work on......and simple to spend $$ on.
