The CMP is offering 1911s again and I've sent my application in.

To those who have participated in the event before:

- What grade 1911 did you choose?

- What were your thoughts on the pistol(s) condition upon receipt?

Those of us in Mass are still prohibited from participating

1911s from CMP 1911, will be allowed in California because they meet the California definition of Curio and Relic. They will ship to 01, or 02, or 07 FFLs in California. At of the time of this release, only the state of Massachusetts will not allow the sale of the 1911/1911A1 pistol. We will not sell or ship to Massachusetts and due to shipping cannot ship to U.S. Territories.All required information is included in this release. Got one first go around, when the price was the cheapest and felt it was worth it. Heard now the new batch are police returns and comp shooting returns, not sure if price is worth it if you get a target gun.

I recently received an email from the CMP stating they received my application and that the process is moving forward.

Rooting around on the interweb I saw that someone received a tricked out 1911 from the CMP that matched the configuration

of the 1911 pistol fielded by 1st SFOD-D.

Maybe I'll get lucky and get a MEU SOC 1911?

You’ll need to ask for “Range Grade” and will be a lot more likely to get a former 1033 police loaner.
