Has anyone noticed since the survival show fade ended the forum is really slow. 2 years ago it was booming. Now nothing. Could it be something else? I think out of sight out of mind.

I think people got tired of day dreaming about surviving the apocolypse in the wood behind their house with their Boy Scout camping kit, or they had to disconnect their internet service to pay off all the tactical survival gear they charged on their credit cards...

Or maybe we're just trying to survive the winter that won't go away.

So far this winter (yup, it's still winter [frown]) - water pipes froze & burst in the basement, chimney sheared off by friggin glacier sliding off roof, stuck in driveway multiple times, sister slipped on ice floe and fractured a rib, etc, etc.

That could be a winter country song. Seriously that sucks. I am sorry. I am ready for winter to be done. Was out cutting wood today and the snow is still knee deep.

You aren't rehashing all of Dave Canterburys shit all the time anymore. That cut the forum in half right there.

People are too busy stocking up on ammo and chow. We all mostly have common sense, in that we need food, access to water, and ammo. Honestly, if the SHTF, in a big way, the only thing you need is enough food and water to outlast the mobs, enough ammo to fight off the mobs, and some medical gear just in case.

People are busy building networks

Yup. And as alluded to above - people , some at least , are doing things.

I think the general subject matter education of NES " zombie hunters " is pretty high. Pretty far past arguing about the contents of a Bug Out Bag , or whether I should buy an AK or an AR15.

I scan the topics here daily , and move on with my day. But it's Sunday and I don't want to put my boots on for another 1/2 hour so I'm here.

I'll even start a new thread on my current "Survival" interest and To-Do project - I'll title it Survival Group.

How many times does this need to be said, NAGANT and 880 rds of steel core!!![devil2]

Surviorman, Cody & Dave and Bear. These guys really pounded the scene and almost everyone has seen part of an episodes.. I think survival has gone mainstream and the hype is done. Saturated, common place, boring.
Also people learned just enough to talk to newbie's as an introductions to topics. They know enough now.
I like to learn and rehash other people's material. Find out for myself what works and pass it on. That's the only way to learn and share IMHO.. But if the traffic is gone the threads are slim at best.
A lot of people just don't like forums anymore because of the attitudes, so they just don't bother posting or returning. It could be everything mentioned above and more.

The last time I was stranded in a jungle with only a Lego piece, a bent tin can and a 4000 dollar camera I made a catamaran and a laser pointer to signal for more drinks.

Remember when Survivorman did that episode on realistic detailed Land Nav ? Or whether he should hump a take-down 22 vs an M4 ? Or setting a hasty ambush while being tracked by hostiles ?

Me neither. Dumb TV is dumb.

What about the possibility that, with the whole NSA spying sh*t becoming common knowledge (did anyone really NOT know that already?), people have become more reluctant to write about what they are doing?
