OK - Asst. Police Chief Stabbed In Face Shoots, Kills Attacker

An investigation is under way Sunday after a Pawnee police officer fatally shoots a suspect.

Around 7:00 p.m., Pawnee Police responded to a burglary call at a house near 700 11th St. The suspect, 25-year-old J.D. Gonzalez, ran from police and headed toward an abandoned nursing home.

Pawnee Police chief Herb Adson said his officers, along with Pawnee Sheriff and Pawnee Nation authorities, began to search the building near 800 9th St.

Adson said Gonzalez confronted the officers, hitting Assistant Chief Calvin Brown in the face with a shank.
