It's unusual for two reasons.

1. It's a side-break, not top.

Never shot it. I have no idea if it's even advisable to shoot modern 12 gauge ammo through it, anyhoo...
 
Don't shoot modern ammo in it. It looks like the wrong kind of iron. Check the chambers to see how long they are. Some odd sizes were made in the past.

Thanks for the tip, but I don't think I'd risk shooting anything in this shotgun. I don't know its history other than my grandfather owned it for about a hundred years. [smile] I'd rather pick up one of those knock-off Chinese double-barreled guns that I don't have to worry about...
