Hey guys,

I need some suggestions for a scope on my Scar 17s. I am looking for the following:

-First Focal Plane and MOA
-Can withstand the scar recoil
-Short in Length without a massive objective lens(compact side)
-Slim turrets
-Shooting as close as 50 yards, most shooting to be done at 300 yards, and occasionally out to 600 yards max.

Thanks

Hello Rosa

There are 3 i am looking at for when i finally find this damn scar to buy (see other thread)

Swfa 3-15 tactical. It is FFP, rated for 50 cal and takes any type of recoil.

Bushnell 3-12 elite tact ffp with the G2 reticle

Or for a dmr role Bushnell 6-24 elite tact ffp with G2 reticle as well

Thanks for the suggestions, hopefully when I have time I will bring another scope I have and look at a target at 600 yards and see what magnification I need. If 15 mag is over kill or I could settle something with a 9x for 600 yards.

anyone shoot 600 yards? If so, what magnification do you use?

I own 3 SWFA 3-15. GREAT glass for the $$$$.

I will take far more mag, and use the scar as a dmr, with a higher mag range up to 15x than carry a 308 with an elcan.

Then again this replaces the 12 lb sig 716 i had but for you maybe its your go to battle rifle:)

The Elcans weighs a metric ton don't they? I think for the weight of a 1-6 Elcan id take an equal weight and quality Nightforce with a higher magnification. Then maybe some 45degree irons or an rmr for close up.

Temporarily im putting a 1-4 trijicon accupoint on mine, someday ill upgrade to a higher power scope.

I like the SWFA, but id def prefer an MOA reticle, to bad its not available.

There's a reason why it weighs a metric ton, here's mine, well Uncle Sugar's.

Vortex Razor HD Gen II 1-6x24 Riflescope with JM-1 BDC Reticle MOA RZR-16003

Not FFP but not sure you would need that for those ranges anyway.

I'll second the Vortex. I put a Vortex Viper FFP on a bolt action 308 and I easily scoped in 100 and 200 yards easily. Looking forward to getting to a range with more distance to work them out as well.

Thing I like about the Vortex they have a no questions ask warranty on their scopes. If it stops working, send it back and they'll fix it or replace it for you. Doesn't matter how old it is or if you are the original owner like other manufacturers do. I've matched the Vortex up to my Leupold M4 and it's very close in comparison.
