So I'm looking to procure another safe resident and I'm really torn between the two so I put it out there for advice and personal experience from other forum members. I've shot both and love the way both shoot/fit/feel......just looking for some help in making the right choice first even though eventually I know I'll end up buying both.

The benefit of the P320 is you can change the caliber for about $250 (less if you know a Sig employee). You can also change the gun type as well without buying a new gun. So if you buy the compact model and want the subcompact, you just buy the subcompact frame and slide assembly and move the trigger assembly over since that is the serialized part.

After firing the P320 yesterday, it is going to be my next purchase. The trigger is awesome.

Absolutely agree. While I haven't shot the P320, my neighbor is a Sig rep and I got to dry fire one several months back. I'm pretty sure my face had HOLY SHIT written all over it the first time I squeezed that trigger.

The P320 is a nice gun (particularly compared to its drunken, broken parent, the P250) but its form factor is more akin to a school bus compared to an M&P or a Glock, so if thickness is an issue, the OP should take heed.

Even despite its school bus-ness, It's on my "list" but I don't know if I'll ever get down that far. [laugh]

My face said "The P250 is now officially discontinued" the first time I dry fired one, lol. [laugh]

The P250 free state trigger isn't half bad....it requires the shooter to stage accordingly. the MA-compliant trigger is unshootable unless the shooter is a gorilla. that being said there's not much question the P320 is superior in almost every way.

i consider the P250 to be a pistol for someone who wants the trigger of a smooth DA-revolver.

FWIW...

No, sorry, I think it's ****ing terrible. The only thing worse is a mass M&P/shield trigger, or perhaps a Glock with an NY2 connector in it.

Free state trigger? I don't think any such animal exists- The gun is old school un-assisted DAO. There's a reason you don't see most production handguns with that kind of trigger anymore. Because it sucks. DA revolver? That's pretty laughable. I'm not a huge wheelgun guy but there is no way I would ever carry a P250 over even a j-frame. The trigger travel on an S&W revolver is probably half the distance (or at least, it feels that way) and you get a better trigger feel and not nearly as much stacking.

The P250 was made in a free state model w nice smooth trigger and no LCI. It was also made in various ban-state configurations w 10rd mags, LCI and shitty 50 lb gorilla trigger that stacks like pancakes.

if someone has experienced shooting the MA-compliant P250, then they should shoot a free state version before deciding it is junk. They are whole different animal.

the guns have different product codes to indicate which has the FCU w heavy crap trigger.

The only P250 triggers I've pulled are in NH gun shops. I wasn't aware of the neutered version, got me on that... doesn't make sense to me why they would neuter it, as its at least like 8 pounds and requires a motorized come along to get it to the end of its travel. It wasn't the weight it was the fact that it's DAO, and stupidly long on every shot. I can't imagine how bad the MA trigger must be.

IMHO the only good thing about a P250 is if one looks hard enough, they can be found on the cheap, because smart dealers are dumping them like mad because they're basically obsolete with the introduction of the 320.

I wouldnt be surprised if sig was actively disassembling P250's just to put parts and mags towards the P320. Agree it will probably not be long before the P250 is discontinued.

the sig P224 also seems to be flailing....i got to hold one some time ago and it looks like a P226 lost its arms and legs to some farm equipment.

Sig P224 is like this, then....

If the P250's trigger pull was anything like the double action pull of their SP2022, I can't imagine why it isn't popular. Feeling like you have to pull the trigger through the back of the trigger guard into the frame on every shot would suck. Sure, nice and easy slow fire I'm sure it shoots just fine, as that nutnfancy video showed. Anything faster? Garbage.

At least with the 2022 after the first shot the followups get a lot better.

i shot both the m and p and the p320 and the p320 was so easy to shoot and accurate. to me its night and day, where as the m&p kicked like a mule, the p320 didnt bother me at all. for me the choice is clear but unfortunately its not available in MA.

M&P 9 (FS??) kicks like a mule?

Very odd, I've found all the M&P's that I've owned / fired (9 FS, 9c, 45 'mid', 45c) to pretty 'soft' shooting. I could see the Shield 9 being kind of flippy due to the size of the gun overall. (I guess if you were shooting .40 then maybe, sure... never shot them, don't care for the round)

Thank you all very much for all the input.....I came across a deal that was impossible for me to pass up.......Full sized M&P 9 w/ 3 17rd mags + NS and APEX trigger (with stock sear/trigger parts if I wanted to switch back) for $350. I figure, worst case scenario, I could probably get that back in trade in towards a p320 if I hate it. Definitely stoked!!!!!!! it gets here on Tuesday so now the worst part begins, the waiting....
