Ooo I would say that’s 45 2 and 4/10ths aka 45-90Not I. I somehow acquired some RCBS .45 Basic and they have a paper-patched bullet in them, but not my doing. Marked 45x2.42 on the box...?
What’s your sizing look like?I paper patch .38-55 for an old Swedish rolling block. A well compressed load of 3f, a disk punched from a milk carton and a cookie of beeswax. Its been a while since I've shot it and I hope to soon.
The mold is something I made myself. It drops a .368 pure lead bullet and I wrap it with 2 layers of.002 tracing paper giving me .376 diameter. This drops right into an unsized fired case. What’s your sizing look like?
Bore vs. bullet size and final size after patching. ?
Awesome. The mold is something I made myself. It drops a .368 pure lead bullet and I wrap it with 2 layers of.002 tracing paper giving me .376 diameter. This drops right into an unsized fired case.
Now that’s cool. How’s the accuracy? The mold is an old Lee that I recut with a homemade D reamer.
Nothing spectacular. About 2" at 50 yards. Fun as hell. The white smoke. The smell. The kaboom. Doing something few people have even heard of.Now that’s cool. How’s the accuracy?
Yeah I love seeing the confetti when the shot goes off.Nothing spectacular. About 2" at 50 yards. Fun as hell. The white smoke. The smell. The kaboom. Doing something few people have even heard of.
Those are pretty! I need me some old cartridges for my cartridge board!
You wanna sell one?
If you drive down you can have one.
How’s the accuracy on that old girl?Yes. I paper patch for smokeless. It's for a Remington rolling block in 43 Spanish.
Wow that’s a great increase in accuracy. Did you have to play with the powder charge or not?The accuracy went from about 10" to about 2 " at 50 yards. I'm using 5744. When it's on at 100, it's 28 inches low at 200.
You BP guys think you’re sooooo cool.I bought this book , outstanding reference on PP but only references BP. Not much info if your wanting to load develop smokeless.

Yeah you just don’t need to go hot. Though the rollers were strong actions. Lots of cheaply made knock offs out there too. Here's a 8X56RD with a patched 249 grn NOE bullet ment for the 300 BLK.
I make the cases from Starline 45-90 brass.
The NOE bullet is a bit to long for the twist rate in my Swedish Roller and shows signs of tipping @200yds.
Cast 16-1 it does shoot better with 1 1/2 F than smokeless.
I hesitate to drive it to fast because of, well, 1879 Rolling Blocks.
Some of the old Norma data shows pressure at nearly 40,000 psi.
Be it a Roller or Krag thats 130+ years old?
Yeah --- NO.
Not using that data.View attachment 735436
