I need a decent pistol safe for my closet. Preferably one that holds more than one pistol and some ammo. Looking to spend under $200. What do you guys think?

Just ordered one of the large ones, they make smaller in-wall safes as well that look like they'd be great for a pistol. Very stealthy, put an electrical service decal on it and anyone will think it's just circuit breakers.

I didn't plan on getting that one but figured I'd just get the biggest in-wall safe they make because I'd kick myself in the ass if I didn't later.

I ordered the Stackon in-wall safe yesterday afternoon and it has already shipped via fedex ($.97 shipping..). ETA is between tomorrow and Monday.

They have that model on the floor at KTP and it looks pretty flimsy to be honest. Wouldn't take much more than a large screwdriver or something similar to Jimmy the door IMHO. I believe their price was in the $69.99 region.

Regards

Andy

+1 on fort knox.

i looked around for pistol safes for about 6 months before buying a fort knox. i didn't see any other companies that offered a product nearly as thick. also the simplex lock system is very quick, and you don't have to worry about looking at number or letters, its all by feel. not to mention no worries on complex locking systems with batteries and unlocking cables that could fail at the worst possible time.

hope this helps good luck!

I have a Fort Knox. Build like a tank - about 24 lbs, 10 gage. Manual quality Simplex push botton lock that will never need a battery replacement. Not cheap but the best I've found. You can shop around and find them about $175, sometimes less.

Your link is currently showing a discounted price of $149.00....that's a great deal!

+1 for the Fort Knox. I'm very happy with mine - it's built like a tank and bolted to the floor. And no one's going to be prying the lid off of this thing. I bought mine at the Marlbororo show from the safe guys from western Mass. They had a special for NES members and I think I paid around $135.

Absolutely correct Michael. You can open these completely by feel in the dark. No worries with these.
