Stafford police said one of its officers was training at the Rosenberg Police Department shooting range on Avenue A near 8th Street at about 9:45 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators said the officer, a 20-year veteran of the department, was somehow shot in the leg.

The officer was taken by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Officials said his injuries were not life-threatening and he was expected to be released on Friday.

The officer, whose name has not been released, was training for his annual recertification, police said.

Several law enforcement agencies in Fort Bend County use the Rosenberg shooting range.

Stafford police said they will conduct their own investigation, but Rosenberg police will also investigate since it was in their jurisdiction.

well, did get recertified?

at least it was only in the leg, could have been a lot worse. i wonder what really happened there.

at least he's okay.

What about that video of the guy in a courthouse holstering his pistol with his finger on the trigger? You know, where he hit one of his fellow officers with a conga line of guys in chains right next to him? I don't know any other way that you are "somehow shot in the leg".
