Last night, with the assistance of youtube, I stripped my G22 down. After it was all squeaky clean, I reassembled it to the best of my abilities as a few of the vids I found only dealt with disassembly.

Though I'm under the weather, I accompanied my Dad to MRA and decided to bring it for a function check.

I loaded a pre-ban with 5 rds. After each shot, the slide was held back. I field stripped it to see if I could find anything glaringly wrong. However everything looked in it's place.

If anything, I think I may have installed my slide release incorrectly.

*Disclaimer: I have had problems with this mag NOT holding the slide back on when empty which is why I only use it at the range from time to time.*

Unfortunately for me, I was feeling crappy and the smoke wasn't helping my nose and throat so I didn't try another mag. I was feeling crappy and apathetic, so I just packed it up after those 5 rds, as opposed to unloading my other mags and checking to see if they would work.

What do you think could possibly be the reason for my problem?

Wow.....lamest thread ever!

P.S. BEC was right (wolf223 merely a follower getting his post count up[laugh]) ! Within 2 min, I had that baby cycling (snap caps) no problem.
I was just gonna bring it to FS tomorrow and have Jim Flynn take a look at it, but new I would find my answer where I find ALL the answer to life's problems!

Thanks guys!

this

i did the same thing.

BTDT. That was, and will continue to be, the last time I did anything other than field-strip my Glock, and even then that's only for day dreaming about the repeal of NFA34 and how simple it'd be for a competent machinist to add a giggle switch.

hahahahaha

always function check after dis assembly--especially after work like a detail strip

you should have found the problem before going to the range. google for a formal list but it's something like this:

  1. make sure it's unloaded
  2. insert empty mag and rack--slide should stay open
  3. drop magazine
  4. press slide lock down--slide should snap forward
  5. pull trigger (should go click)
  6. rack
  7. pull trigger and hold back (should go click)
  8. rack
  9. release trigger (should reset click--if not you may have full auto)
  10. pull trigger again (should go click)

check safes:
  1. firing pin lock can be check while disassembled: firing pin should not move forward unless release is pressed in
  2. trigger safety should prevent trigger movement unless pressed
  3. rack then hold slide back slightly and try and pull trigger--should not engage firing pin when slide is out of battery

i think that's it

I didn't look online for function checks. After it was all put together, I racked and dry-fired. Didn't think to look online for checks because my youtube vid made no mention of it!
This will serve as a warning to me, as to always ask people I trust as opposed to some yahoo with a camera online!!!!!
