Does anyone know of a good range near the Groton/Ayer area?

I am sure there are some decent ranges in NH, which isn't very far from my home, but I have no idea what the legality is if I am crossing the state line with a rifle.

Welcome to the forum, Shirley R+G is a good local club. I am in Pepperell we meet on the second thursday of each month at 7:30, C'mon down and check us out.

9 miles from Groton to Harvard. Harvard Sportsmen's Club is a no-brainer if I lived anywhere in that area.

Another vote for Harvard. They have IPSC, IDPA, cowboy, archery, shotgun, full auto,a 24/7 indoor range, outdoor ranges from 7 to 300 yards, steel targets, plate racks and breakfast on Sunday morning.

Littleton Sportsman Club just off Rt 119 on West side of I-495. No frills, but no hassles.

What is this all about?...................

100/50 yard range

1. The road to the river and 25 yard range crosses the 100 yard range between the 100 and 50 yard firing lines. When using the 100 yard firing line, place the orange cones in the road on both sides of the range to warn pedestrian and vehicle traffic that the range is in use.
2. The 100 and 50 yard firing lines are part of the same range, and cannot be used at the same time. Either the 100 yard firing line OR the 50 yard firing line may be used, but not both at the same time.
3. Targets must be set up at the berm. No targets may be set up part-way down the range. For a shorter range, move the firing line towards the berm.

Sounds like a bad accident waiting to happen.

Admit it's not ideal, but there are safety cones that are put out across the road whenever anyone is shooting from the 100 yard position. It's worked okay for 40+ years, though there are plans to re-route the road as part of a new re-development effort begun this year.
