Reasonable priced Handgun and ammo for beginner

Canik makes a fantastic budget gun. In all flavors too conceal carry competition and full size. I own four and love them. I have and have had many more expensive options and these guns are awesome

i'd agree, i don't think they can be beat for the price point.

caniks? probably a marketing scheme. they had a lot of competition so what better way to get a lot of newly introduced product into the hands of shooters in the states...lower prices. now they have a footprint and decent reputation so up creep the prices.

I dont like the idea of sending my money to Turkey.

I've had a lot of problems with S&W pistols through the years. I no longer own anything from the brand and avoid them. The Ruger SR9 is a reasonably priced pistol that I feel is more reliable. But I'm not in love with the design as it has a lot more intricate moving parts. But it is cheap and reliable.

My preferences these days would be:

In 9mm
Glock 19
H&K VP9
Kahr PM9
WAlther P99

Remember the time proven saying that "you get what you pay for". That and "buy once cry once". I keep relearning that the hard way....

That's a respectable stand to have. I have less scruples when it comes to this. Just remember how many companies you may own products for or stores you shop at send money to anti gun groups. At least turkey admits they hate us. I appreciate a little honesty

Late to the game but I'd vote for the Glock 19 over the Shield every day and twice on Sunday. The Sig 2022 9mm would also get the nod - it's a great gun and a personal favorite of mine.

Hi guys,
I just got my LTC-A license and ready for purchase my first handgun. Can you please help me with a good reasonable priced handgun and ammo for beginners?

Thank you.
LTC-B is no longer issued. Are new issues still -"A"? Seems redundant....

I'd recommend a Beretta 92FS as the most reliable and easy to operate, because they always just work. No ejection or chambering issues, decent trigger. Only issue is the grips are kind of fat for people with smaller hands.

If you want to do precise target shooting, there are better choices, fancier guns are more expensive and leave you having to worry about fancy mechanical stuff that can need tuning to work reliably.

You can also find preban 15 rd magazines pretty easily, which you might want at some point.

Maybe because "Class A" is in the statutes? My non-res issued a couple months ago still says "Class A" on it.

Also when I lived in MA I paid $350 plus $20 transfer fee for my Gen 2 Glock 19, so if you are patient you can do a lot better than the "MA premium." I probably should have sold it before I moved but the Gen 5 didn't exist yet, which I traded up for since I'm lefty and like the ambi features.

Last parting shot--I hate the Shield!
