I got a chance to take a look at some guns offered to me for sale. 1 caught my eye. I did not get to really check it out very well. Short on time.

Remington 513t with fine adjustment rear sight and a long tube front sight.
Also one marking I was able to make out "ARMY FINISH" on the barrel. also has RRA stamped into the stock and P with circle on pistol grip. Very simular to the the proof mark on a Garand?
I have been trying to find pics of it on line?

I do believe it was army trainer, just trying to find more info. When I first got a glimps of it I was hopeing it was a model 37. I need to find out if he has the sling and scope.

Too bad you weren't able to take a photo, particularly of the sights.

The 513T was Remington's second-from-the-top target .22 rifle (the 40X was top and competed with the Winchester 52B and 52C for sales) in the 50s and 60s. The sights might have been Redfield Olympics or Internationals, in which case this would be quite a find. Though not as elegant as the 40X or 52, the 513 was a fine shooting .22 rifle.

Schwing's Standard catalog of Military Firearms (2001):

Model 513-T
This is a bolt-action .22 claiber training rifle with oil finished walnut stock and checkered steel butt. Barrel length is 26.75" and detachable magazine capacity is 6 rds. Rear sight is an adjustable Redfield Model 75 RT. Most, but not all, of these rifles are drilled and tapped for telescope mounting blocks. Receiver is stamped "us property". Some of these rifles wil have an arsenal rebuilder stamped on the barrel. About 70,000 of these rifles were produced under government contract from 1942 to 1944.

Exc. $750
V.G. $600
Good $500
Fair $300
Poor $200

I did not see any US Property markings. Just army finish ? from other sources this could be a re arsenal throw together of some sort. it is a 513-S but has the military style stock with adjustsble sling position and proof stamp
