Reparations for black slavery

Well, since the gov't increases the size of the welfare check considerably with each additional child, LOTS of folks took advantage of this.

Back in the mid-1960s when I was working for Brockton Edison Company (since bought out and renamed) as a Co-Op Student, it was well known that some of the welfare folks would "share" children when the social worker came around to check on how many kids she had. So they swapped the kids around for these visitations to increase their welfare checks (without actually having quite as many as they claimed).

I have no proof that this happened, but given what I did see, it wouldn't surprise me. I don't think it was a racial thing, but more like an "opportunist" thing. Brockton had plenty of "white trash" back in those days and I recall seeing some things that don't even make the news (even today)! It was quite an eye-opener for this 19 year old (at that time).
