I'm looking into getting my first larger caliber rifle. I definitely want a bolt action. I'll probably be shunned, but I'm not interested in a Mosin. My buddy has one, I've used it. Just not the biggest fan. Looking at some shop websites I've only come across Mausers and Ishapores. Love the look of Mausers and read great things but know that shooting 8mm is pricey. Couple questions to get started:
What is the availability/cost of 8mm? I don't reload so I'm talking cost at shops.
Is a 7.62 conversion Mauser a slap in the face to German engineering?
