Rohrbaugh R9s pocket pistol

>>I shot a NES member's R9 at a shoot a few years ago. I remember it being surprisingly comfortable to shoot<<

But not so comfortable to pay for. Went with the PM9 instead. (not that this one's a bargain either) :-)

Looking at all the claims for the Boberg (tastes great, less filling, ends world hunger), I have to admit to being rather skeptical. Particularly since he hasn't sold a one.

I agree I'd definitely like to see how they do with those who buy them, but he certainly has no shortage of evidence on his website that it is in fact a progressing work. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt since he regularly updates the progress on the project, and answers questions.

I would never buy a gun for self defense that didn't function reliably, so I'd rather pay half as much for a PM9 vs an R9 that shoots great and is very well proven. The tiny increase in size is worth it for a gun that works. It doesn't hurt that it's significantly cheaper and easier to come by in MA. But in the R9 class size, I'd wait to see how the XR9s ends up doing.

Down through the years I have seen many of these high cost "Designer Pistols" come and go. Some were classics like Charlie Kelsey's Devel S&W 9mm customs. These pistols were so good that S&W got the hint and began mass producing them, which put Charlie out of business.

Others were just expensive curios. Does anyone remember the Semmerling? My point is that most of these expensive customs simply are not worth the money when there are similar pistols available for a fraction of the cost, backed by established manufacturers with excellent warrantees and customer service.
