Heh.
Went through this experience recently. I decided to buy all parts and build from scratch, as opposed to buying a 10-22 and rebuilding. I had a vision of what I wanted as the end result and did not feel building around a stock reciever would work for me. I built around a Tactical Solutions X-Ring receiver, GM barrel and Volquartsen TG-2000 trigger group. I added a Nikon BDC-150 scope and have a 'tack driver' that a treat to shoot. (Dime size group of 10 rounds after zeroing scope @ 50 yds.)
(I did have some unexpected $ on hand to help with this build. As atmay stated, "The 1022 is easily the most expensive $150 gun you'll ever buy. ")
