Yup, I got a simmon 8-point 4x fixed scope. Barely snug in the bag. If the scope extend a bit in length, it won't fit. This is a low cost scope and it works.

I would look into a variable power scope like the millet DMS, leupold VX-R and Burris mtac scope.

Will the takedown backpack fit the receiver with a scope still attached or do you have to take the scope off the receiver?

I have the black version of this rifle, with a 1.5-5x zoom scope, and I had to make a big slit in the pocket flap (allowing the scope to poke through) in order to be able to secure the Velcro. The scope just barely fits when the bag is zipped up, but it does fit.
