Looking for something lighter to carry I purchased a Ruger 1911 9mm lightweight. Now for those who have one you already know that the recoil spring is light to say the least, mine would not function reliably with Winchester white box ammo. So it's time to replace the recoil spring but what weight spring,so after some poking around I settled on a 12 lb recoil spring. Went to MRA y3sterday and went thru 100 rds without a hitch. Some sights say a 16 lb spring but that seemed heavier than needed. Hope this helps anyone with the same pistol/problem

I had a bunch of commander length springs around so I tried a few of them after I got mine. Great shooter, definitely a good buy.

As you'd figure, a 20# spring is a no-go :) Also 14# would result in a FTE every 1 in 10 or so with WWB 115gr, but had zero issues with 25 rounds of any of the SD ammo I tried (124 Gold Dots, 124 Ranger-T and 147 HST). I didn't have a 12#, so I put the 10# back in for now as it's pretty much a range toy for me.
