I purchased a ruger lc9 about 2 months ago. I've put about 1k rounds through it. I've already had to send it back for a mag repair and firing pin. Last night at the range the front dovetail walked itself just about right off the slide. Has anyone else expirienced these problems with ruger. They had me send them the gun for the firing pin and mag now there mailing me a while new slide. Starting to feel that ruger makes a crappy firearm.

I've had one for over a year. I'm not really sure about the round count but it's up there with 0 issues.....

Mine has hundreds of round through it and only some minimal break in problems. I now trust it with my life when I need a small thin piece for concealment.

This is like the 3rd or 4th "my lc9 sucks" thread...

I'll say the same here...ABSOLUTELY NO problems with mine

Any manufacturer will have some lemons just like cars. Hopefully there aren't too many in the case of guns though....

ruger is really the gun owners company, if you have had continual issues with the gun request a new one! Rick hit the nail on the head, i sale appliances for a living amongst doing other things and EVERY brand i have sold has had triumph and failures. I refuse to sell GE now because they are absolute garbage, they recently issued a recall for their dishwashers catching on fire...Back to our regularly scheduled thread [rofl]

In fairness there are really two types of LC9 sucks threads on the board:

-My LC9 sucks it works but it never met my expectations

and

-My LC9 sucks because it is broken/doesn't work/sights fell off.

I see the former here a lot more than the latter. A lot of folks were thinking they were going to get something nicer than what it actually
was.

I saw that exact thing happen to a guy's LC9 at the range a couple weeks ago. Damn thing was half way off the slide.

That's too bad, Ruger makes the best firearms IMHO. This is the reason why I haven't bought the LC9. $399 for the LC9 with Lasermax really intrigued me and I almost bought one but it seems like every time I'm on here I see another LC9 thread. And then someone will post "mine has worked flawless with 400 rounds" etc etc. It's not that I don't believe you, but with a failure rate that high will sway me away from it. I hope you get yours fixed up.

I love mine. It's eaten everything I've fed it, and way more accurate than I expected. I don't even mind the trigger. Sure it's long, but it's smooth enough that it doesn't throw off my aim. I can shoot it as accurately as my G17 at 10 yards, and it's a heck of a lot more comfortable to carry!

I agree it is accurate atleast when the site was aligned. Its a great carry weapon. Light small easy to conceal. All of these mechanical failure make wonder if I'll ever purchase another ruger. Kind of bummed about the pinned site as well.

We Just tried my sister in laws Ruger LC9. Has anyone had alot failure to feed issues. A lot of times I couldn't even rack a round in.

I just had a problem with my Ruger and their customer service is amazing! They fixed the gun and even sent me a Ruger hat for the trouble. I couldn't be happier!!!!!! My suggestion let them know you're unhappy. They seemed more than willing to do what ever it took to make me happy.

True

I've never even shot the LC9 but I currently own a MKIII and LCP and they are both excellent trouble-free guns.

In the past I've had a P90 and SP101 and those were both 100% as well. I'd have no problems getting an LC9 if I were in the market for one, just based on their record of customer service. Eventually these problems will be worked out anyhow I would think.

Only issue with mine thus far has been the rear site loosened once. I tightened back down with a drop of loctite, no other issues since. Waiting on shipping back from Galloway now on a hammer/trigger bar modification. Anyone with a stock one want to meet up at my club (Southborough) or yours and do a before/after comparison?

Well got a new slide on tuesday. Went to the range last night and it would not properly extract than the extractor fell out. Now Ruger is sending me a THIRD slide. I got a free mag out of the deal but this is becoming non-sense. Hopefully the new slide will work. In the meantime anyone got any ideas on how to keep the front site in w/o falling out. Chopper you know how far southborough is from spfld area?

Is your front sight pinned? I thought Ruger was now pinning the front sights to the LC9, if not, send it with the slide back to Ruger to have it pinned. I checked mine recently and can confirm mine is pinned and on there pretty good.

I had the same thing happen with my MKIII. The front site came unscrewed and wouldn't stay in place after a day of putting ~ 500+ rounds through the thing. Some high-temp loctite fixed the issue.

Me too! The rear sight came loose as well. I just thought I was drunk or something because my shots were all over the place [laugh]. Loctite is my next move.

LOL. I hear ya. Felt the same way. I ended up just taking the damn thing off that day at the range. Shot another few hundred rounds with no front site, accurate as you can imagine [laugh]

The front sight on the new slide was pinned. The extractor wasnt properly "set" in the new one i got and wouldnt eject and caused it to jam. I didnt send back the original slide due to all the problems ive had and wanted to make sure the new one worked. So I'm sending back the new slide i got with the broken extractor and going to hold onto the one I originally had until i get the new one. Atleast I'm getting a free mag out of the deal.

I had 100% FTF issue using Hornady Zombie Max on my LC9. The plastic nose always got hung up on the feed ramp. ALWAYS. Returned the box and got Federal Hydra-Shok, no problems at all after that. After 300+ rounds of FMJ at the range I've never had a jam of any kind. It's surprisingly accurate for a 3" barrel and such a small size (pinky-grip on mags helps). If you want to go invisible, IMO this is a nice choice. Lots of trigger travel, but you can gather it up fast and find where it starts to engage the hammer release. Once you do, it's pretty easy to know how much pull it will take to go bang. My only question is pinky-grip for accuracy or regular for super invisibility. I go back and forth. Either way it's small and slim.

Zero problems with my LC9 (and my MK II). The LC9 with Crimson Trace laser is my carry gun. That being said, it's in need of a Galloway Precision trigger and hammer job and some beefier recoil springs. Real Soon Now.
