Ruger LC9

Just an FYI. The LC9 is now back-ordered and on allocation at most wholesalers. If you want one, get it. If you are too late and the dealer is starting to bump prices, take a look at the Kahr CW9 or CM9. Its a nicer gun in my opinion but about $60 more money. They straddle the LC9 in size and weight. If that difference narrows because of gouging on the LC9, the Kahr becomes a no brainer.

I wish those were viable options for those of stuck in Mass. We can get the lawyerized version of the PM9 but the others aren't on the list and would carry a premium.

Mine has been 100% reliable w/ about 300 rounds of Brown Bear, TulAmmo and Fiocchi through it...until today. Picked up 4 boxes of the white box Walmart Winchester 9mm and it seemed every 3 or 4th round failed to eject. Friggin' PITA. Searched online to see if others have had this issue and it appears that this is common with the Winchester WM ammo. On a similar note, my Remington 870 has problems with Winchester too. I will hold onto these Winchester 9mm until I get my Hi-Point from the group buy and see if they cycle through w/out problems in that. We will see.

I don't know whats happened to Walmart WWB lately, but its gone to crap.

I had a misfire the other day with my Glock 34. On examination, the primer had been given a solid whack by the striker. Definitely not the gun's fault. The primer did feel a bit high.

I had the same thing happen about 6 months ago with WWB. Its funny, in almost 30 years of shooting these are the only two misfires I can ever remember of factory centerfire ammo that was not the result of a light primer strike.

Its been difficult to find, but CCI blazer is hands down my favorite cheap ammo. No, you can't reload it, but it is dead nuts reliable and runs great in most semi-autos. It was my standard IDPA ammo in my G34 for years. Never a single failure in tens of thousands of Blazer through that gun.

Held, but haven't shot the LC9. I wish is was a bit more "ambi". Would've picked one up if the slide released with a rack instead of just the release lever. Also the mag release was a pain for a lefty..... Many of the full size guns are more lefty friendly. Its a challenge to find a pocket piece for a south-paw.

I'm a lefty and in my opinion a difficult to reach mag release is MUCH preferred to the other option, one that releases when your index finger presses it durring recoil.

This has been a chronic problem for me with a number of my small guns, including the LCP and PM9. In my case the solution was a stiffer mag release spring. On the PM9 I achieved this by actually nesting 2 springs inside each other to double the spring force. In the LCP, I actually know a guy whose company makes the springs for Ruger.

I did not know that the slide on the LC9 couldn't be dropped by racking the slide, like you said, pretty important for a lefty when the release is very low profile.

I had my LC9 for almost a year now and put about 900 rounds of every type of ammo through it, Blazer's ,Remington's, American Eagles and several different hollowpoints and except for one FTE with Winchester Ranger 147 gr. it has been 100% reliable. As far as the trigger goes it's no worse than my S&W 442 and IMHO it's more accurate than any short barreled revolver I've ever shot at 21 feet. It drives me crazy when I hear people compare pistols like this to Beretta 92's and Glock 17's. It is not a target pistol, it is a lightweight CCW and it does everything it is designed to do and it does it well.
