Ruger LCR-22

So after shooting about 300 rounds through the lcr 22, my dad was dry firing it (which is ok to do, according to the manual) and the trigger seemed to be binding. He opened the cylinder and a broken off piece of the pawl fell out. Wtf?!

He's sending it back to ruger today and is not happy about it.

Just to follow up, my dad sent in his lcr .22 and included a handwritten letter expressing his dissatisfaction with the pawl breaking off. Ruger called him the day they got the gun, apologized and said they haven't had this kind of failure happen with any other lcr .22's. He mentioned in his letter that he was thinking about eventually getting the lcr .38 so Ruger offered to replace the broken .22 with a new .38 with tritium sights. He took them up on the offer and should be getting the .38 sometime next week.

Very cool of them to do. I would have opted for the LCR 357, because then you can shoot either or. [wink]

So this is a double action only trigger? Why? I just don't see the use of this, as .22 is not really a defense caliber, so wouldn't you want a decent trigger?
