I think that looks like Stag, not Ivory. But very nice looking, and even more cool because your dad gave it to you.

The cylinder frame of the blued Vaquero is 'chemically' case hardened, not fire case hardened.
It is widely reported that the finish is not very durable.
If you are going to give the gun a lot of use, the stainless will look good a lot longer.

I just bought a "blued" one. Well it's on lay a way until next week, I have to wait to see how much my muffler's going to cost. I had no intention of getting one, until I saw this one. It was one of the prettiest guns I think I ever saw.
What sold me though was the gold inlay around the cylinder. I'l have to look into preserving the finish.
I'll post a picture next sweek when I pick her up.
