Ruger SR 1911 finish problem

I bought a full size in march 2013 the front sight broke off after a couple hundred rounds. I just had them send me a new one and that one broke off too. I bought a after market novak and found out Ruger cuts their dove tail at a different angle on top of that I had the pitting under the grips. A real bummer.

There have been numerous instances of this happening (happened to me with my SR 1911 CMD) Naturally they fixed it. Was the dove tail cut something you found out on your own, or did Ruger provide an explanation? We had been led to believe that Ruger had a bad batch of front sights.
