Ruger SR22 multiple FTF

Are your FTFs a failure to feed or fire?

I've had my SR22 for a few years and it's been flawless with any ammo. However, a friend bought a new one last week and it fails to fire about 25% of the time. It feeds fine, but wont ignite the primer, even after pulling the trigger a few times in a row double action. In fact, when this happens, there are no strikes on the case when we manually eject it. Something is going on with the firing pin. He brought it back to the gun store and they are sending it back to Ruger. Never saw that happen before.

Hi, it's failure to fire. Will feed fine, hammer comes down, no bang. Sometimes there is a strike mark, most times when it happens there is none.
I just got off the phone with Ruger described the issue and the excessive wear, they want to firearm back asap to replace. So heading to my FFL now so they can ship it back.

Fed AutoMatch will definitely have a few rounds per box that won't fire, or cycle properly. I very rarely have an entire box that will function 100%. Its the ammo, not the gun. The wear you are seeing in that pic does not seem normal at all. I would hit up Ruger customer support and send the firearm out for diagnosis. They will probably end up replacing the entire slide.

Here is a pic with ~2200 rounds though the gun using ONLY Fed AutoMatch. I only cleaned it because my OCD kicked in. Otherwise the gun was working fine. YMMV

I've got one of these. I changed out the plastic RSA and dropped in a stainless steel one. I only shoot copper plated through mine CCI, or Aquila and have no issues at all. I've probably shot 1500 rounds through it. the only ammo that it didn't like was Federal Auto match...would not cycle. the Mini mags and the CCI AR tactical are they way to go with this gun IMO.

If you continue to have problems. Save the duds and run them through a known "good" gun.

Although you shouldn't need to spend for CCI SV or minimags, they are known reliable products. Test with these. If the gun goes bang reliably, you are ok.

I found the Blazer has a lot of wax on it and builds up in mine so I don't use

I consider this to be a small price to pay for what I consider to be the most accurate cheap .22 ammo around.

I did some testing a few years ago and blazer was head and shoulders above every other budget priced ammo in reliability and accuracy.

Break it in with Mini Mags then junk the Winchester ammo.
Mine runs 100% with Fed AutoMatch 325 bulk packs and any CCI. It does bad with Winchester 333 and 555 packs.
My daughters would not run with the Wincester ammo at all. But will run reliably on the CCI and Federal AutoMatch. I'd go with Mike's suggestion too.

Had my SR-22 for over three years, and I've shot thousands of round through it without any problems. I usually use Federal bulk, American Eagle and Blazer's. I've tried the CCI standard and hi velocity and had no problems with that ammo either. My buddy has SR-22 and he's been having problems with Remington & Winchester brands, mostly failure to fire. But his pistol works with everything else. Hope this helps you.
