Here's the new S&W 1911 High Grade courtesy of Gunblast.com. S&W will also offer a limited edition 100th Anniversary 1911.

There called the Enhanced series and they do not have the scwartz safety like the regular S&W 1911's. The enhanced use a Titanium firing pin and extra power firing pin spring.

The most recent EOPS list now has a S&W 1911 on it which uses the titanium Firing pin . S&W1911TFP. Who knows if they will ever actually be found in stores

Are these supposed to be better than the performance center models, about the same, taking the place of the PC models or just under them?

Is "bobtail" a copyrighted term? I only ask because S&W is referring to it as "Round Butt." [laugh]

Either way, that gun's sure got a nice heiney!

I see nothing on the S&W site about the gun lacking the schwartz type safety. Can anyone point to documentation?

S&W revolvers used to be available in square butt or round butt (now I believe they are almost all round butt). So I'm guessing they are using "round butt" as it has some history with S&W.

My main issue with this is that a gun isn't "high grade" just because the manufacturer said it is. Nice to see that's where they think they're going, though.

Yeah I would like to see them come with a match grade barrel and other upgrades that would truly make it "high grade" and not just different styling. But I can't find any real details on their site right now... the one with the rounded butt pictured earlier though does say it comes with a "precision trigger" and titanium firing pin.
