Um... all of their 1911s and the popular, reliable, and fun 22A series.
So the only POS that comes out of there is the Walther stuff?

Smith doesn't manufacture the Walthers...they just import them. I've never had one issue with my PPS and I shoot it frequently.
Not correct.
Very nice. What is the word on the S&W external extractor? An improvement or a waste of time?
Unnecessary. Possibly cheaper. A properly tuned internal extractor works well.
Kimber had issues with theirs. It is my understanding that they went through at least three redesigns of the external extractor. I believe they may have even abandoned it to go back to an internal extractor, but I'm not sure about that.I actually think they're an improvement, as they more-or-less eliminate improperly tuned extractors in production. I think they're harder to replace and get parts if broken, however.
Maybe a plus on the production side, and neutral on the user's side. Possibly cheaper is a good answer.

I believe you are correct. S&W seems to have designed it right the first time, except, perhaps, for ease of replacement.

OOhh I like. $1319.00 MSRP on the S&W website.
Any guesses on what the retail prices may be, if it ever reaches MA shops? -15%?
Bill
Why wouldn't it be for sale in MA? I've seen plenty of different S&W 1911s that are approved.

Are these close enough to existing models not to have to be tested and approved though?
And they got rid of the Swartz-style firing pin safety.According to Guns & Ammo, the new E-Series, E for evolution, had design changes. A new trigger - the Joubert trigger system, a titanium firing pin, and as mentioned an extra heavy duty extractor. Made up in Houlton, ME.

Every single gun has to be tested and approved here in the PROM.
