So my S&W MP15 has a little gap (enough to see daylight) where the back of the upper and the buffer threads of the lower is located. The front take down pin seems make this make with it's forward tension. Is this normal? Can it be remedied?

If I understand you correctly a little play between the upper and lower is not out of the ordinary, if it really bothers you get one of those accu wedge thingy's otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.
Normal. If it bothers you, use an accu-wedge.
